Landscape Gardens - Tips and Ideas!

Welcome to our website! You will find lots of great information and discount local contractors for your landscape gardens throughout this page.

Decide what your budget is and stick to it. A good way to do this is to make a chart with columns. Make a list of the plants, tools, mulch and everything needed to complete your landscaped gardens. Sticking to the list will help to avoid the temptation to buy something on a whim.

Compost is free food for a garden and does not require any expensive ingredients. Gardeners can make their own compost piles using grass clippings, chopped leaves, coffee grinds, shredded newspapers, vegetable scraps, or eggshells. Instead of having the leaves in the yard hauled away, mow the leaves and rake them into a pile. A compost pile can be built using recycled 2 x 4s, which will allow access to just enough space to occasionally turn the pile.

Starting plants from seeds is an excellent way to save money. Using recycled items from around the house such as yogurt containers, egg cartons, and sour cream containers are an excellent way to start seeds. The price of one package of seeds is usually less than the price of a full-grown plant. Starting plants from seeds may take longer to grow and more planning but is a huge money saver.

When purchasing plants for a landscape garden, select plants that will reseed themselves, therefore saving money by not having to repurchase them every year. Perennials may be more expensive to purchase initially, but they will bloom every year, saving even more money. Nurseries often offer discount perennials in the off-season and even though these plants will not bloom until the next season, the savings can be substantial.

Gardening tools can usually be found around the house. A pair of old gloves and a gardening spoon is all that is really needed to start a landscape gardens project. A trowel can substitute for a gardening spoon or even a metal serving spoon. Putting plastic bags around your shoes is recommended to protect them from the mud. An old plastic place mat can be used to kneel on when creating the economical yet beautiful garden.
